When you have a question, you want your
answers NOW. So here goes...
Check computer clock.
Make sure you enter it exactly as it was
provided to you. Also the code is case-sensitive.
If you've chosen Active Desktop option for
your desktop, you must disable it first. Right-click on a blank area on desktop
and choose Properties. Then click Web tab in the Display Properties dialog.
Make sure "View my Active Desktop as a web page" checkbox is cleared.
Make sure DynaWall is running. Check if the DynaWall icon is present on your
System Tray. If it's not, then DynaWall was exited or not set to automatically
start with Windows. See topic below on how to set it to start automatically.
Make sure that the files that are in the Image List (File->View/Edit Image
List menu command) actually do exist in your system. If the image files were
added and later moved or removed, DynaWall would not be able to find the images
and you will need to add the new location to the images.
DynaWall is designed to run with no
user-intervention. Typically, the only time you'll need to run it manually is
if you ever mistakenly closed the program and wanted to launch it without
restarting the computer, or wanted to edit the Image List. To bring it up
anytime, first see if it's running (it's icon will appear on the System Tray
although it's main window may not be visible). If it's not running,
double-click the Dynawall.exe item in C:\Dynawall directory (or where you
installed the program). If it's already running, see next section on how to
make it visible.
DynaWall hides itself so it doesn't take any
space on Windows Task Bar. It puts itself on a system tray (located at the
bottom or far-right of your Task Bar). Double-click the DynaWall icon (a brick
with a wing icon) to bring it up and access all its commands. Whenever you
manually bring it up, it doesn't hide itself and you must hide it manually by clicking
the minimize button or by choosing Application->Hide menu.
Make sure you have chosen the command
"Automatically run DynaWall when Windows starts" from Application
menu. Next, make sure that no files from DynaWall directory are deleted and
that WINDOWS\Start Menu\Programs\StartUp folder contains a shortcut to DynaWall
(this shortcut was created via "Automatically run DynaWall when Windows
starts" menu command).
Delete the DynaWall shortcut located in your
WINDOWS\Start Menu\Programs\StartUp folder.
Open the About dialog under Help menu. In
About dialog, location will be shown.
Windows does not support setting dynamic
wallpaper unless the image is in BMP format. However, DynaWall sets your
wallpaper to any popular image. This is done by converting the non-BMP image
format to BMP format. DynaWall does this process for you if the original image
format was not BMP. So, if you added an image named lion.jpg, DynaWall will
create a lion.jpg.bmp file and set the wallpaper to it. WARNING: Do NOT just
rename your non-BMP file extensions to .bmp...this would NOT convert the
image...it'd merely rename the file and cause corruption in the image format.
No. After installation, you can safely delete
C:\DYNAWALL directory (which contains the older version).
Open the About dialog from Help menu. In About
dialog, it will show how many executions left before trial-period will end.
You will need to register the program with the
appropriate fee. See Help menu and choose Registration Help topic for details.
You do need to register by sending me the
filled-in registration form. But as a customer of previous version, it won't
cost you anything! I need the updated registration form for accurate record keeping
and technical support purposes only.
Free help on the program (or any of my
programs) is provided upon registration. However, you can contact me via email
anytime tanman1129@aol.com with questions/comments relating to the programs
I've written.
· DynaWall 2.x was pretty good, this is even
better. Now it supports any popular image formats (JPG, JPEG, BMP, GIF) for
your wallpaper.
· An improved and more powerful interface
allows you to preview and manage images better than before.
· Now DynaWall "stays out of the
way" and does not take any space on your taskbar's list of current
application. It executes like an applet.
· Intelligent walkthroughs allow you to learn
the program easily and incrementally.
· Some bugs fixed since last revision.
· Improved installer is professional and
allows you to install with greater flexibility.
The idea started with my own need. I was bored
of my static desktop but I didn't want to get a program that would hog so much
memory and space that my normal work would be affected. After I wrote it, I
shared it, improved it, and now selling it. The program is written entirely in
C/C++ using Microsoft Visual C/C++ compiler. For graphics effects, several
third-party graphic tools were used. For help, raw html data was entered by
hand.
Delete the directory where you installed DynaWall (e.g. c:\Dynawall3). Delete the file Dynawall.lst in your Windows directory (e.g. c:\windows). Delete the DynaWall shortcut in X:\WINDOWS\Start Menu\Programs\StartUp directory (e.g. if you have installed Windows in another directory for example, Win95, then your path would be X:\WIN95\Start Menu\Programs\StartUp). Replace X: with the drive where you installed Windows, typically C:
